Wow...that's the first thing that comes to mind, right now as i'm thinking of more to say. Lauren Oliver in my opinion is one of the best young adult authors that knows how to make you feel something for characters and their situations and just the whole plot in general. She makes you think and wonder about life, love, and death. What if the government was trying to cure the world from love. What would the world be like if everyone just walked around not caring about others, never having fun or laughing too much because if you did the government would come and take you away and put you in a psycho ward, beat you to death, or even worse they try to "cure" you of it all, from not loving EVER. Once I was done reading, which was 20 minutes ago, on my kindle, I was like when and why hasn't the next book come out yet?!!(which comes out in 2012, called Pandemonium). It was that amazing. I've never been so in love with a book since..forever really. I love it so much I'm going to buy the book when it comes out even though I have it as an arc. The characters were so realistic and lovable you felt everything they felt, every pain, happiness, and sadness. The plot was fantastic, but also torturing once it ended, especially when it kind of ended with a cliff hanger. This book isn't about folowing your heart or doing what's right, but to love and not be afraid of it and to feel alive everyday and all day. As I was reading this book, I was pretty much dreading about how I was going to write this review since a) I love this series b) I love the author's other works such as the Au Pairs series and lastly c) I really was anticipating this book and really wanted to enjoy it. So first I must admit I didn't finish the book because I just couldn't take another minute of it, I just felt like my soul was dying with each turning page....okay I'm exagerating, but I did feel something similar. So when you read the summary of a book you expect it to be mainly about that, well to my suprise it really kinda wasn't. The whole time while reading I kept wondering is this the same author who wrote this pretty good series and if so what happened? Like most fans of this series i'm a Schuyler and Jack fan, but the thing is they were barely in it.
They were only in it until page 80 and that's basically where part one ends, then the rest is all about Mimi and Oliver and them being together and ect, even though I kind of expected that to happen if Schuyler ever left Oliver, that he and Mimi would team up or have some type of collaberation with each other. I feel like i'm some what being unfair to this book, but then again I feel like I gave it my best to like it, but just couldn't go further into it. The character's were off, especially when it came to Jack and Schuyler's short part. To me their short part felt like something out of a Soap Opera or one of those cheesy romance novels you usually see house wives read with Fabio on the cover. Mimi deffinitely didn't sound like the take no crap from anyone Mimi and so on and on. The book was pretty much maybe the shortest book out of the series, when I looked at the end of the book the first thing that popped in my mind was Did a book worm eat the rest of it? Is she writing the rest and putting it online for free because we are such awesome fans? Or was she just being slack and decided to spin crap because she know we'll buy it?hmm..interesting, right? To me it just felt like she was creating another story with in an already plotted out storyline and just either got confused with her other series that she's writing or just got bored and decided they will either love it or hate it. Maybe whenever i'm bored again i'll pick it up and read the rest of it, but until then it's staying on my bookshelf.

I'm not really sure how to start this review since this book left me with no words only tears. Just like almost every teen that feels like they are a reject or just doesn't belong where they are and want to find out what's more to life, Miles wants to find the "Great Perhaps". So to find that he goes to boarding school and tries to start a new life there, while never knowing who and what event is going to shape and change his life forever. Looking for Alaska is one of those books that once you finish you stop and think about life. How some of us take it for granted and how we never tell anyone how we really feel about them until it's too late. This book kind of reminded me of Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver (also wrote a review on that book) except it's not about dying multiple times it's about a guy who wants to find more to life outside his dull town and meets someone who is totally different from what he's use to an event happens that makes him kind of question everything, but not even realizing until the very end that it's not about the "Great Perhaps",but about the labyrinth of suffering and a lot in between. Everything about this book from the message about living to the plot and Characters. Everything just seemed so real you felt for every little thing like it was actually happening to you. This book isn't all about the heavy stuff in life it also has it's hilarious moment's also. This book is absolutely awesome.
